Q + A With Stephanie Peers
One look at the images of London-based blogger Stephanie Peers and you’re whisked away to a world of
captivating romance - soft, dreamy hues, beautiful garments, and exotic destinations. Outside of
running her blog, The Style Memo, Stephanie is also a luxury brand
consultant, impressively managing both while traveling to some of the world’s most beautiful
destinations. We were thrilled when she told us she’d be taking her favorite Westerly Bikini on her
recent trip to South Africa and took the opportunity to find out
more about her. Stephanie’s shared some of her favorite images from her trip below.
When did you launch your blog and what was the reason behind it?
I launched The Style Memo back in 2014. My background is in fashion - I studied Fashion Design
at university and shortly afterwards I went to work in the design teams at Amanda Wakeley,
Celine and Roland Mouret, but after a few years of travelling non-stop with 10 suitcases of
collections in tow, I decided I wanted to be based in London and I started working in investor
relations for a hedge fund. I learnt so much but it made me realise that I needed to do
something creative, so I started the blog on the side and never looked back.
How would you describe your style philosophy?
I'd say my style is pretty classic and always a little overdressed. Living in London, my day to
day look generally revolves around a cashmere jumper, a great pair of jeans and a really good
coat or jacket. When it comes to the evening I love to dress up, and resort wear is where I
really play with colour and interesting styles. I also love to mix designers with new
independent brands to find something a little different.
Do you have a modern day style icon?
I'm obsessed with Erica Pelosini who contributes to Vogue. She's just so glam!
Outside of your blog you’re also a luxury brand consultant; how do you manage your
time between both?
I've been working on multiple projects for the past 4 years so it's become pretty much the
norm for me, and I love the variety it provides. I generally spend half the week consulting for
brands, and half the week on projects which relate to the blog. This can be anything from
meeting PRs and creating content for brands to writing blog posts and working on social media
plans. I'm generally a pretty organised person and I make sure everything is noted down in my
calendar and spreadsheets to keep on top of deadlines.
With travel being such a big part of your life, what are your carry-on essentials?
Ok so I have travelling down to a fine art now. I use a Tumi suitcase which if possible comes in
the cabin with me and I have a super smart Made in Global leather rucksack which is a great
carry-on bag. Inside I'll have my passport in a personalised Aspinal of London case, an
oversized scarf, big sunglasses (I love Le Specs), Nuxe RРve de Miel Lip Balm, Fresh Black Tea
Overnight Mask, my iPhone, my MacBook Air and some healthy snacks.
Favorite city and why?
Oh that's a tough one. I love London, where I live, but if I had to pick another city it would be
Paris for its beautiful architecture, delicious food and the excitement I still feel every time I visit.
Favorite place to vacation?
Ibiza. I've been visiting the island for over 10 years now and my trips there just get more and
more frequent, so it almost feels like a second home. I've spent many wonderful holidays with
friends and family there, my fiance has a DJ residency on the island, and we're planning on
getting married there later this year, so it's a very special place for us. I really think it has a
special energy, and something for everyone. Go if you love to party, but also go if you have
kids, if you love great, local food and yoga, go if you like to hike... basically just go!
Favorite hotel you’ve stayed at lately?
We just spent New Year in South Africa and I fell in love with our hotel in Franschhoek, which
is in one of the winelands. The hotel is called Akademie Street and it has just 7 rooms that are
all individually decorated with pieces that have been collected by the owners around the
world. We had a beautiful suite with a private pool and the prettiest garden where I took
photos of my favourite Westerly bikini.
What’s something most people wouldn’t know about you?
I love to talk about finance, business and economics. I am secretly a math geek at heart!
